From Chile, with love

Hi guys!
We wanted to show you some photos taken on our recent family trip to Chile. These pics are from our visit to Valparaíso, only 111 km (69.5 mi) outside Santiago.



The city was the first and most important merchant port on the sea routes of the Pacific coast of South America that linked the Atlantic and Pacific oceans via the Strait of Magellan. It had a major commercial impact on its region from the 1880s until the opening of the Panama Canal in 1914.

Once considered the "Jewel of the Pacific" and "Little San Franciso" today is one of the South Pacific´s most important seaports and considered Chile´s cultural capital.Valparaiso was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2003 

Built upon dozens of steep hillsides overlooking the Pacific Ocean, one of the best ways of seeing Valparaíso is through its funiculars. Several of those funiculars provide public transport service between the central area and the lower slopes of the surrounding hills.

Overall, this was a beautiful place to explore and we especially loved the colorful cityscape.
