Cupcakes and cashmere at home

 
We´ve been reading Emily Schuman´s blog for years now, so we were excited when her latest book arrived on our doorstep last week. In "Cupcakes and Cashmere at home" you get a  glimpse into the blogger´s newly restored 1916´s house and the improvements she made with an interior designer´s help.




The book is separated into sections: 

1/interiors and decorating; featuring entryway & living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom, bath and home office. 

2/entertaining; where she provides advice on hosting casual nights in and all kind of different parties. Each party includes tips for menu, drinks, decor, outfits and even a playlist for the evening.

 Our favourite chapter is the one where she gives ideas on how to host a low-key fun "Retro Game Night". We love entertaining, but we usually end up ordering pizza and listening to some random music on somebody´s playlist. So these are great tips to taking our get-togethers to the next level!

To tell you the truth the interior design section was a little bit disappointing because we were hoping to see more full room photos of the house, especially her closet (they are mostly cropped detailed pics). However, we liked the tips for renters vs. owners at the end of every chapter.

"Cupcakes and Cashmere at home" is kind of an extension of the blog, so if you are looking for a serious hard-core interior design book, this is not it. This is a nice, lighthearted reading that if you are a C&C fan you will enjoy.
