Last weekend we went to the movies to see “The age of Adaline”. If you haven´t seen it yet, you should give this movie a chance. To tell you the truth, we didn´t have the highest of expectations but we left the theatre pleasantly surprised. The story felt so romantic and magical it was definitely worth it.
The story is about a woman named Adaline Bowman, born in 1908, who after a series of fortunate (or unfortunate) events remains 29 years old for eight decades.
In this day and age where being young and beautiful is considered a blessing, this movie allows the audience to see that such gift turns out to be actually a burden, a curse; constantly losing everyone you love and have to keep going on your own. So despite the fact that she has all the time in the world to live, she chooses loneliness out of fear of losing love, ultimately not really living life at all.
Eventually a man does comes along and makes her reexamine her life and the choices that she´s made.
If you were to go through a life like Adaline´s would you be able to deal with immortality? What would be the best use of that limitless time you are given?
